These Privacy & Terms apply to the Comidos Android app, the comidos.app website, and related Comidos backend services. Comidos currently offers two core scan services: Scan Food Barcode and Capture a Meal Dish. By checking the agreement box and proceeding in the app, or by continuing to use Comidos after being presented with an updated version, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Comidos. Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or waived.
Comidos is a general informational food and nutrition tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Comidos does not provide medical, clinical, diagnostic, or individualized dietetic advice. Product scores, AI-generated or AI-assisted content, dish-identification results, ingredient explanations, dietary assessments, allergen assessments, are informational estimates only and must not be used as a substitute for advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare professional. Always consult an appropriate qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
Comidos provides nutrition and food-product information and therefore may fall within Google Play's Nutrition and Weight Management health-feature category even though Comidos is not a medical device. Comidos is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, monitor, or manage a disease or medical condition. Product scores and comparison labels are proprietary informational nutrition evaluations, not clinical recommendations, medical advice, regulatory ratings, or guarantees that a product is safe or suitable for a particular person.
Do not rely on Comidos to determine whether a packaged product or prepared dish is safe for an allergy, intolerance, pregnancy, medication interaction, therapeutic diet, religious dietary rule, or medical condition. Product formulations and restaurant recipes can change, hidden ingredients and cross-contact may not be visible, databases can be incomplete, and AI can be wrong. For Capture a Meal Dish, allergen and dietary results are uncertainty-aware estimates based on the photograph and typical recipe context. They are not verified ingredient declarations, kitchen cross-contact assessments, certifications, or guarantees of Halal, Kosher, allergen-free, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, or other dietary compliance. Always read the manufacturer's current packaging for packaged products and, for restaurant or prepared foods, verify ingredients, sourcing, preparation, certification where relevant, and cross-contact directly with the restaurant or preparer whenever a mistake could create a health, religious, or dietary risk.
Food scores, calorie and nutrient displays, comparisons, dish estimates may be unsuitable or distressing for people with a current or past eating disorder or disordered-eating concerns. Comidos is not designed to diagnose or treat eating disorders. If these features could be harmful for you, consider not using them and seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.
Comidos uses AI when supported product information is missing, for report prose and category interpretation, for consistency review when the contradiction engine detects an issue requiring AI review, and for Capture a Meal Dish. AI-generated or AI-assisted content can be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or fabricated. For Capture a Meal Dish, AI may identify the dish and estimate cuisine, preparation method, visible/likely/possible ingredients, possible allergens, dietary compatibility, portion, calories, and other nutrition values from the submitted image. Important information should be confirmed against current packaging, the manufacturer, the restaurant, USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, or another authoritative source as appropriate.
Comidos combines or derives information from sources that can include USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, AI services, product packaging evidence reflected in those sources, and user-submitted dish photographs. Database records can be incomplete, stale, incorrect, differently normalized, or inconsistent with a current package. AI estimates can also be wrong. Comidos uses reconciliation and contradiction checks to reduce obvious inconsistencies, but no automated process can guarantee that every value, color, ingredient, allergen, dietary assessment, grade, image, or score is correct. Verify important facts independently.
Comidos's packaged-food Overall Score is a deterministic Nutri-Score-derived informational calculation; it does not mean that a product is safe, unsafe, fit or unfit for consumption, medically appropriate, or the best or worst product on the market. capture a meal dish reports do not include the packaged-food Overall Score system. Ingredient and additive concern labels likewise describe Comidos's informational classifications, not a diagnosis or regulatory determination. Real-world suitability can depend on quantity consumed, frequency, overall diet, individual circumstances, hidden preparation details, and the product or recipe's current formulation. You remain responsible for deciding what to buy, consume, or avoid.
For packaged-food barcode reports, the Comidos Overall Score is calculated deterministically from the resolved nutrition data using the Nutri-Score formula supplied for this release. The backend calculates Nutri-Score negative points for energy, sugars, saturated fat and salt/sodium, subtracts the applicable positive points for fruit/vegetables/nuts/legumes, fibre and protein, applies the documented cheese, added-fat and beverage rules, and derives the displayed 0–100 score from the Nutri-Score point range. Ling is not asked to calculate the Overall Score. Capture a Meal Dish reports intentionally do not display a packaged-food Overall Score.
Comidos uses deterministic Good, Moderate, and Bad remarks for supported nutrient fields in the Overall Product Summary, Macronutrients, Micronutrients, and rendered Extended Nutrition sections. These remarks are calculated by backend rules from resolved canonical nutrient values; AI does not choose the remark or its green/orange/red presentation. Nutrients without a supported deterministic rule remain neutral. Packaged-food Overall Score is a deterministic Nutri-Score-derived calculation and is not a medical, safety, regulatory, or suitability determination. Nutri-Score, NOVA, dietary flags, additive concern labels, AI source badges, and the Overall Score retain their separately described meanings.
Nutri-Score and NOVA remain separately displayed packaged-food indicators when appropriate structured evidence is available. Nutri-Score currently displays its grade and Nutrient Levels in the user-facing report; structured positive/negative component data may still be retained internally as evidence for consistency review or scoring but is not displayed as Positive Factors or Negative Factors. These external indicators are not guarantees of healthfulness, safety, dietary suitability, or regulatory compliance. Capture a Meal Dish reports intentionally omit packaged-food-specific Nutri-Score and NOVA indicators.
Depending on the feature you use, Comidos may process your Google/Firebase account identifier and email address; account entitlement and Google Play subscription status; scanned barcode numbers; personal scan-history timestamps and report metadata; favorites or saved products; generated product or dish reports and score information where applicable; a still dish photo that you intentionally capture for Capture a Meal Dish; and limited technical, security, request, error, and rate-limit information needed to operate and protect the service. Comidos does not intentionally upload or store the live camera photo/video feed used for barcode recognition. Capture a Meal Dish currently uses a camera-capture workflow rather than a gallery-upload workflow; the still dish image is transmitted for the requested analysis and report generation but is not stored by Comidos as a reusable shared dish-photo cache or user photo library.
Comidos uses account information to authenticate users, maintain account and entitlement state, provide history and favorites, enforce scan and anti-abuse limits, process deletion requests, secure the service, investigate technical failures, and comply with legal obligations. Barcode and product information is used to identify products, reconcile source evidence, build reports, generate AI-assisted fields and consistency reviews, cache reusable product-level reports. Dish photos are used to perform the requested dish analysis and generate the requested report. Dish-analysis results are generated fresh for each capture and are not written to the shared report cache.
Product identity, nutrition, ingredient, category, and other report evidence may be sent from the Comidos backend to an AI service when AI assistance, search grounding, scoring, or consistency review is used. Capture a Meal Dish photos are also sent through the Comidos backend to the configured AI service for the requested analysis. Comidos does not intentionally include your email address or Firebase user ID inside the AI prompt payload. Google/Firebase processes authentication and related account services. Google Play processes subscription purchase and billing information. USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts are queried for packaged-food data. Cloud hosting, network, security, and logging providers may process ordinary request metadata needed to operate the service. These providers operate under their own terms, privacy policies, data-processing arrangements, and retention practices. Data may be processed in countries different from your country of residence.
Account-specific entitlement, favorites, and scan-history data are retained while needed to provide account features and are removed when the account is successfully deleted, except for limited information that may be retained when required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or regulatory obligations. Shared barcode/report cache entries are product-level records not owned by an individual account and may remain until refreshed, replaced, expired under service cache rules, or removed for operational reasons. Capture a Meal Dish analysis is generated fresh per capture and is not stored as a reusable report cache. Capture a Meal Dish photos are created in temporary device cache for the camera workflow, submitted for the requested analysis, and the app attempts to delete the temporary local file after success or failure. Comidos does not maintain a reusable shared dish-photo library. For an unexpired Google Play subscription whose Comidos account was deleted, the minimal hashed billing-recovery marker described under Account Deletion may remain until the entitlement expires or is reclaimed, after which it may be removed under normal operational cleanup. Third-party processors may maintain transient processing data or logs under their own operational and legal retention rules.
Subject to identity verification, applicable law, security requirements, and lawful retention exceptions, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or other legally available control over personal information Comidos controls. You may clear your personal Recent Scans history from within the app or through the website data-management flow without deleting your Comidos account. Clearing Recent Scans removes the signed-in user's scan-history records but does not delete favorites, account authentication, subscription state, or shared product/report cache entries. You may also request full account deletion as described below. Privacy-rights availability and response obligations depend on applicable law and jurisdiction.
Comidos does not sell personal information to advertisers and does not use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising. The public website does not currently use optional advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies. This statement does not mean that ordinary service providers receive no technical data; providers may receive the information necessary to deliver authentication, hosting, AI, search, billing, security, and other requested service functions.
The public website currently uses only limited essential browser storage needed for basic website preferences or dismissal of website notices. The account/data-deletion page uses Firebase authentication solely to verify ownership before showing or executing account-specific deletion controls, and its sign-in persistence is configured in memory for that page. The website and backend necessarily receive ordinary technical request data such as IP address, user agent, headers, and timestamps to deliver pages, protect the service, and investigate abuse. Comidos does not currently describe this ordinary technical traffic as advertising or behavioral analytics.
Comidos depends on third-party services including Google/Firebase, AI services, Google Play, USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, public image-search services, and hosting/network infrastructure providers. Third-party services and external pages have their own terms, privacy practices, content, availability, security characteristics, and intellectual-property rules, which Comidos does not control.
Comidos uses the device camera for two separate purposes. For Scan Food Barcode, barcode recognition uses the live camera feed and Comidos does not intentionally upload or store that live camera photo/video feed; only the decoded barcode is sent for product lookup and report generation. For Capture a Meal Dish, you intentionally capture one still image inside Comidos. That image is sent through Comidos to the configured AI service to identify the dish and estimate visible/likely/possible ingredients, possible allergens, dietary compatibility, cuisine or region, preparation method, portion, calories, and other nutrition values. Avoid capturing unnecessary personal information such as identifiable faces, receipts, screens, addresses, payment information, or sensitive documents in the background.
You may permanently delete your Comidos account from the Account Status screen in the app or through the website data-management flow. Deletion removes account-specific subscription/entitlement state, favorites, tester status where applicable, personal scan history, and the Comidos/Firebase Authentication account. If a real Google Play subscription is still unexpired when the Comidos account is deleted, Comidos may retain a minimal pseudonymous billing-recovery marker consisting of the purchase-token hash, a one-way hash of the stable Google account binding, product identifier, subscription state/expiry metadata, and deletion timestamp. It does not retain the deleted Comidos uid, email, or raw purchase token in that recovery marker. The marker is used only to prevent purchase theft and allow the same Google account to reclaim its still-active Play entitlement after recreating Comidos. Shared barcode/report cache entries are product-level records rather than account-owned personal history and may remain. Deleting a Comidos account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. If a Google Play subscription is linked to the account, Comidos warns you before deletion and provides a Google Play subscription-management link; cancellation must be managed separately in Google Play. Limited information may remain when retention is required by applicable law, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or regulatory obligations.
You are responsible for maintaining control of the Google account or other login method you use with Comidos. Do not use bots or other automation to mass-query, scrape, harvest, or copy Comidos; probe, scan, or bypass security or authentication; circumvent scan limits, cooldowns, rate limits, or access controls; introduce malware; interfere with the service or its infrastructure; impersonate another person; or attempt to access admin, private, or other restricted functions without authorization. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, or abusive content through the service, including photos you do not have the right to submit. Comidos may enforce technical scan and rate limits to protect the service and prevent abuse.
Comidos may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, third-party systems, legal compliance, security, or service capacity, including for material or repeated violations of these terms, abuse, fraud, unauthorized automation, attempts to bypass controls, or unlawful use. Where practical and legally appropriate, Comidos may provide notice or an opportunity to correct the issue. You may stop using Comidos at any time and may request account deletion as described above. Any rights that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual-property protections, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute provisions, continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Comidos requires internet access for core scanning and report-generation functions and depends on third-party systems. Network failures, maintenance, provider changes, rate limits, device compatibility issues, or other technical problems can delay or prevent access. Comidos does not promise uninterrupted availability or that every report, image, grade, database value, AI output, dish estimate, subscription state, or grounded external result will always be available, current, complete, or accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Comidos is provided on an as-available basis without warranties beyond those that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
Comidos does not operate or promise a customer-service program, help desk, guaranteed technical-support channel, response time, service-level commitment, or ongoing troubleshooting service. Any reply or assistance Comidos may choose to provide is voluntary, may be limited, changed, suspended, or discontinued, and does not create an obligation to provide future support. This does not limit any consumer, privacy, billing, or other right or remedy that applicable law requires.
The Comidos name, branding, app and website software, original interface and report design, and proprietary scoring methodology are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws and remain the property of their respective Comidos rights holders. Product names, trademarks, logos, photographs, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners or licensors. Comidos does not claim ownership merely by identifying or discussing a third-party product or dish. Comidos may allow you to share a generated report for personal informational purposes; doing so does not transfer ownership of Comidos software, methods, branding, or third-party content and does not grant a right to extract, repackage, or commercially exploit the service at scale.
Product data is sourced in part from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. USDA FoodData Central is a United States Department of Agriculture data resource. Open Food Facts is a collaborative database and its database content is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL); reuse remains subject to applicable Open Food Facts licensing terms. Source availability, licensing terms, and data can change independently of Comidos.
Comidos is intended for adults aged 18 and over. This age limitation also reflects the current service design and third-party AI dependencies used by Comidos. Do not use Comidos if you are under 18.
Free accounts currently receive up to 5 scans, with a 5-minute cool-down between scans. VIP access currently includes 1,000 scans per Google Play subscription billing month, with no 5-minute cool-down and no separate daily scan cap. Unused VIP scans do not accumulate or roll over into a later billing month. VIP also has a 10-scan-attempts-per-rolling-60-seconds anti-abuse limit. Scan limits apply to both packaged-food barcode scans and capture a meal dish analyses. The VIP monthly allowance resets when the current Google Play subscription billing period renews. Limits may be changed prospectively as the service evolves.
Comidos offers an optional Google Play subscription called Comidos VIP. Comidos VIP has no trial period. Subscription checkout, localized price, billing period, renewal terms, payment method, and purchase confirmation are presented by Google Play before purchase. Comidos VIP renews according to the terms shown by Google Play unless canceled through Google Play. Cancellation stops future renewal but may leave VIP access available until the end of an already-paid subscription period, subject to Google Play billing status. Comidos does not offer discretionary refunds. Refunds, cancellations, grace periods, account holds, charge handling, and any mandatory consumer rights are governed by Google Play rules and applicable law, and any right that cannot legally be excluded remains unaffected. Deleting a Comidos account does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription; subscription cancellation must be managed separately through Google Play.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Comidos and its service providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from reliance on inaccurate or incomplete nutrition, allergy, dietary, AI, database, scoring, dish-identification, image, subscription-state, or availability information. This limitation does not exclude or limit liability where applicable law prohibits that exclusion or limitation, including any mandatory consumer protection, fraud, intentional misconduct, or other non-excludable liability.
Except to the extent mandatory law gives you rights that cannot be displaced, these terms and disputes concerning Comidos are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Courts having competent jurisdiction in Amman, Jordan will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to Comidos and these terms. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent protective relief where legally available, and nothing removes mandatory consumer or privacy rights that apply based on your place of residence.
If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent legally permitted. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. Comidos may assign or transfer rights and obligations as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, sale, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable law. You may not transfer your account or obligations in a way that would circumvent these terms. These Privacy & Terms, together with any purchase terms presented at checkout and any mandatory platform terms, form the agreement governing your use of Comidos.
Comidos may update these Privacy & Terms when the app, website, data flows, scan services, scoring methodology, subscription features, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The current legal version is 2026-09-30-v13 and the last-updated date is published on the public Privacy & Terms page. When Comidos determines that an update requires renewed acceptance in the app, the app's legal-version gate will require acceptance of the new version before continued use. Changes take effect on the date shown unless a different effective date is stated. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
The Better Choice section is an informational alternative-product suggestion based on the resolved product evidence and available category context. It is not a guarantee that the suggested product is healthier, safer, cheaper, more suitable, or available in the user's market. Product formulations, prices, availability, and nutrition data can change. Confirm the current product label and other important details independently before relying on a recommendation.
Comidos does not operate a general customer-service program. Questions specifically concerning these Privacy & Terms, privacy-rights requests, or legally required communications may be sent to goodtotalk@comidos.app. Sending a message does not create a guaranteed support, response-time, or troubleshooting obligation except where applicable law requires one.
